Instructor: [0:00] What is up, folks? I'm super excited to be teaching you about Cypress today. So excited I changed my shirt to my Cypress shirt. I am excited because Cypress is a fantastic tool for end-to-end testing. For a really long time before Cypress, end-to-end testing was absolutely not fun, really difficult, but Cypress has made it so much easier, and I love this tool.

[0:21] Let's take a look at the project here. We're using the same project that we've used in another module. It's our calculator project. Here we have our /src directory with the calculator app information in here. You won't be spending a whole lot of time in here. Most of your time will be spent in the Cypress directory.

[0:36] We have a bunch of branches here, so if you want to follow along, that's totally fine. If you ever fall behind or anything like that, then you can just switch to the next branch and continue on with where I left off.

[0:47] There will be links on every single one of the lessons, so you know exactly which branch we're on. You can see a diff between the last branch and the next branch, so you can get a holistic picture of the things that were changed for each lesson. Then you can jump in at any one of these branches, run the install script, and play around with things at that point.

[1:03] If I go ahead and we'll check out the tjs/cypress-17 here, you're going to be spending most of your time in this Cypress directory in this e2e folder. That's where we're going to be spending most of our time. A little bit of our time will be spent in the support here, as well. We'll spend a fair amount of time in the package.json, handling the scripts that we'll be adding.

[1:24] I'm really excited about Cypress because I feel like the types of tests that you write with Cypress provide an enormous amount of value. I love this tool because it makes writing those kinds of tests way easier than ever before. I think that you'll love it, too. Let's jump in.
